EDEF 3100 was a course I took in the Bachelor of Education program. This course goes into depth on the variety of changes education has undergone, how it varies in different places, and how much it has evolved. This course broadened a deeper understanding on how education has evolved, even since I was in elementary school, and what I can do as a future educator to make sure I bring into the classroom. This course relates to global competency because it encouraged me to be very reflective on my own educational journey, and allowed me to acknowledge that different perspectives are so important in the classroom. It also highlighted components on how to make sure the students are supported, and how to make sure to include diverse knowledge and important subject matter into the classroom.
EDEF 3200 was another Course that I took in the Bachelor of Education program. This course stemmed off of EDEF 3100, and went it more depth on similar subject matter. This course really encouraged me to examine and critically think about the purpose of education, and how to provide a safe environment for students to be encouraged to be themselves. Also, to feel that their perspective and experience is important individually and in the classroom environment. This course encouraged me to become better at communicating the importance of making sure that all students needs are met and what I can do as an educator to make sure my attitudes and values are as broad as the can be. This course relates to global competency, because it encourages me to be open to different perspectives, values, and beliefs of each and every student.
