My sister, my grandma, me, and my mom! This was at my sisters engagement party, it was a great weekend!

Hello! My name is Chloe Paterson. I am twenty two years old, and I am currently living in Fort McMurray Alberta. I was born and raised in 100 Mile House, BC. I attended  elementary, middle, and high school there, graduating with a double dogwood in French Immersion. After graduation I applied to Thompson Rivers University (TRU) for a Bachelor of Arts degree.  After first year, I started to recognize that I had always enjoyed education, and thought “why not continue this for a career?” With that in mind, I started to direct my classes in a direction of teachable subjects and getting into the Bachelor of Education Program. Although I will admit that I enjoy my studies, and find passion in this, my life does not solely consist of my head in books, and doing assignments.

I have a variety of hobbies that I use to keep me busy in my spare time, and to keep me active. One thing that I think identifies me is my love of running. I not only love the feeling after a good 5K, I love the wonders it does to my brain and mental health. I remember growing up with the idea of exercise is good for your brain, but I didn’t really understand this until I started to immerse myself in running. I noticed immediately how clear, energized, and happy I felt, but I am not the only one that feels this way. It is so consistent with all of my running friends. So I conclude that running is something that I consider to be a hobby that I thoroughly enjoy.

Another one of my hobbies is cooking. From an early age, I have always had an inclination to be cooking, backing, or creating in the kitchen. Of course when I moved out of my family’s home to go to university, that is when I started to really get out of my comfort zones. I started cooking different meals, finding new styles and genres of cooking, and the nutrition behind what was going into my food. I have found it thoroughly enjoyable to figure what interesting and fun things you can do in the kitchen with a zucchini, how to turn cashews into cheese sauce, or how to make the perfect dahl.

I have always been someone that uses creativity, and art to keep myself busy. One new skill I have picked up during the quarantine months is crocheting.

Outside of my hobbies and schooling, I am a part of a huge family. Growing up, I was always surrounded with my parents and step-parents, sister, cousins, aunt and uncles, grandparents, and great grandparents. I have felt so grateful to have grown up in such a loving and supportive family. So prioritizing family and friend time is something that has always been the top of the list, because without them, I do not thing I would have become the person I am today. I was raised with the ideal of not setting limits, but shooting for the stars! Recognizing from an early age that I was someone who sets my own limits, I started to not try and minimize, but maximize my life experiences! And here I am!

Jaxx and I! I am at an ice rink visiting with friends and watching hockey!
